Rogers State downs Lady Eagles in season finale

OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 28, 2017) – Rogers State scored three times in each half to down Oklahoma Christian 6-0 in the Lady Eagles' season finale on Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Soccer Field.

Rogers State (13-3-2, 9-3-2 Heartland Conference) advanced to the league tournament next week, while OC finished its season – its first under coach Meagan Anderson – at 2-16 overall and 1-13 in conference games.

The Hillcats outshot OC 21-11. Rogers State took a quick lead in the second minute, when defender Alex Wynn used her shoulder to knock in a corner kick by Eva Madarang, and went up 2-0 in the 11th minute on a goal by Daisy Cardona, her 11th of the season. Janell Hernandez made it 3-0 in the 40th minute.

OC's two best scoring chances came in the first half. In the 24th minute, Rogers State goalkeeper Taylor Sargent smothered a shot off the foot of Courtney Nixon, and Sargent deflected a close-in shot by Oby Okeke in the 37th minute. Sargent finished with six saves.

Jordan Downing, Wynn and Maggie Brown scored for the Hillcats about 11 minutes apart in the second half, in the 56th, 65th and 67th minutes, respectively.

OC goalkeeper Addison Milner made six saves. The sophomore from Corinth, Texas, finished the season with 125 saves, far and away the most in the Heartland. Playing every minute of every OC game, she averaged 6.94 saves per contest.

Before the game, OC honored the program's five seniors – Madison Brinkman, Chelsea Key, Nixon, Monique Raygoza and Madeline Roseke.
