Dawgs and Lady Bison Battle to Draw on Senior Day

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – In a matchup of the GAC's two best teams, SWOSU Soccer played Oklahoma Baptist to a physical 0-0 draw on Senior Day out at the Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon. The tie was the second time the Bulldogs and the Lady Bison have tied each other this season, having already played to a 2-2 stalemate in Shawnee earlier in the year.

Each side had chances to score, but both goalkeepers squashed any opportunities for a goal. Lexie Bates came away with seven saves through 110 minutes guarding the goal, marking the most saves she's earned since the opening match of the season. Bates' counterpart, Emily Griffith for OBU, also tallied seven saves in the contest.

Although the Lady Bison controlled the shot count with a 16-8 overall advantage, SWOSU made the most of their chances by putting seven of their eight balls on goal. OBU also had seven shots on goal.

SWOSU ends the season 10-3-4 overall and 7-1-4 in GAC play. They will now turn their focus to the postseason as the number-two seed in the tournament that will take place at OBU's home field in Shawnee starting next Thursday (Nov. 2).

Today was a potential preview for the GAC Championship Game that will take place next Saturday (Nov. 4). Top seed Oklahoma Baptist will need to move past (4) East Central in their opening round matchup, while (2) SWOSU will need to upend (3) Harding in their semifinal slate.
