The Alfalfa County commissioners met Monday, Oct. 2, for a jam-packed meeting to discuss bids for a new cascade system and SCBA units for Helena Rescue, among other generalitems. Board members present were Jay Hague, Stan Tucker and Toby Walker.
The general items such as M & O warrants for payment, appropriations, monthly officer reports, and monthly highway expenditures were approved, as well as blanket purchase orders, the allocation of the alcoholic beverage tax and road crossing permits. Next, a request was approved by the board to add Shana Smallwood-Buchanan as a receiving officer for Jet Responders. The board then opened bids for a new cascade system and new SCBA units for the Helena Rescue for Alfalfa County. There were several bids for each opened. The board went with COSCO Bar's bid for the cascade system and Chief Fire Safety for the new SCBA units. Lastly, the commissioners approved the payroll due dates, holiday notices, Class A officer quarterly meeting schedule, board of commissioners meeting dates, and excise board meeting dates for 2018.
