At the end of August, the LaWilda Bishop Reitz Foundation presented $1,000 checks for student needs to Burlington, Cherokee, Aline-Cleo and Timberlake schools.
In a recorded statement, LaWilda Reitz told how she is interested in every student succeeding and doesn't want one to fall behind because they can't afford band instruments, eye-glasses, sports shoes, band or cheeerleading uniforms or similar items needed in today's school environment.
Several teachers commented that morale soars when students are helped in an area they had given up on.
Ken Reitz, who represents the foundation in behalf of LaWilda Reitz, said she is a former Cherokee resident and he grew up there. He provided a phone number, 405-748-6525, if residents wished to submit gift need ideas for students. Ken Reitz said, "Our motto is enriching students' lives one step at a time."
