Excise board told real estate assessment up, personal property down

Woods County Assessor Renetta Benson told the Woods County Excise Board that valuations for county real estate are up, while valuations for personal property are down by $4.5 million. She mentioned that seven oil service firms closed up and moved out of Woods County and headed south in the last year.

The excise board approved several requests for money transfers from one account to another, and $2,500 was moved from the Highway M & O account to the Highway Personal Service account to meet payroll for mapping.

Another account change was for the Highway Travel to the Highway Personal Service account in the amount of $5,000 so that there are sufficient funds to pay some overtime.

The sheriff asked that $15,500 be transferred from General Fund Sheriff Part Time to Sheriff Personal Service so a new employee could be hired.

An amount of $3,000 to purchase a copier for the assessor was moved from Assessor Travel to Assessor Capital Outlay.

The Woods County Estimate of Needs was approved for fiscal year 2017-18.

Members of the excise board are Chris Olson, Joe Shirley and Bob Seivert.
