Cleo Springs man injured in collision

A Cleo Springs man was injured in a two-vehicle collision Sunday in Major County. Joseph Reed Barnhill, 23, of Cleo Springs was transported by Air-Evac to OU Medical in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk external injuries.

The collision occurred at 1:26 p.m. on May 21 three miles north and two miles west of Cleo Springs. Barnhill was driving a 2008 Ford Escape southbound. Samantha Joe Culver, 21, of Fairview was driving a 1989 Buick Century eastbound. The highway patrol reports Barnhill failed to yield and struck the Culver vehicle. Barnhill’s vehicle overturned two times, ejecting the driver.

Culver was taken by private vehicle to Fairview Regional Hospital where she was treated and released. Roy Navarro Culver, 26, of Fairview and a 2-year-old girl were passengers in the Culver vehicle. They were not injured. The Culvers were using seatbelts, but Barnhill was not.
