Hillcats Use Big Inning to Rally for 12-4 Win over Drury

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball team rallied to win, 12-4, over Drury on Tuesday (April 18) at the Diamond Sports Complex. The Hillcats plated nine runs in the eighth inning to earn the comeback victory.

Trailing 4-3 going into the eighth inning, RSU posted nine runs to gain a 12-4 advantage. After loading up the bases, Derek Brumble worked a walk after getting behind 0-2 to bring home Chris Miguel for a 4-4 tie. Sam Casinelli put the Cats in front, 6-4, with a single to the right side of the infield to score Ismael Orozco and Jason Marley. The navy and red went up 7-4 with a single by Matt Seubert to plate Brumble. A double steal brought home Casinelli, and Sam Davison scored Seubert with a sac fly for a 9-4 score. The lead grew to 10-4 when Orozco worked a bases-loaded walk. Brumble drove in the final two runs of the inning with a single down the line to score Marley and Miguel for a 12-4 margin.

The Hillcats built a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Miguel singled to score Davison, and Marley knocked a two-run home run off the scoreboard in left field.

In the fourth inning, DU totaled two runs to pull to within one at 3-2. An infield single scored the first run, and a sac fly to left added the second tally. The Panthers tied the score with a solo home run by Ryan Colombo in the fifth inning for a 3-3 score.

Drury took a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning when Colombo singled to center field to plate one run.

DU's Colombo finished 3-for-3 with two RBI.

RSU registered 14 hits in the game. Marley went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Miguel was 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Justin Magstadt earned the win, going 1.1 innings with two hits allowed. Andrew Lucio came in to pitch the ninth and allowed only one hit with one strikeout. Josh Eclavea started on the mound, going 3.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits. Brock Knoten and Tim Luce also made appearances in relief.

The Hillcats step out of conference play this weekend with two games against Bacone College. The two-game home-and-home series starts on Friday (April 21) in Muskogee, Okla. at 2 p.m. Live stats will be available. Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. at the Diamond Sports Complex.
