UAM Golf women take second at Natural State Classic

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's golf team placed second overall in the Natural State Golf Classic this past Monday and Tuesday, played at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club.

Leading UAM in the classic was senior Lauren Johnson who finished third overall with a two-day combined score of 161 (84, 77). This was Lauren's fourth top ten finish throughout the spring season also.

Junior Frida Rydberg (83, 80) placed right behind Johnson in fourth place with an overall score of 163 as well. Freshman Belle Tan (87, 79) finished just three strokes behind Rydberg in fifth place with an overall score of 166.

Junior Brianna Dickerson (89, 90) totaled an overall score of 179 to finish in a tie for 19th, and fellow junior Kelsey Schrimpf (89, 92) finished 21st overall with a combined score of 181 in the competition.

Freed-Hardeman University claimed the number one spot in the classic with a two-round score of 666, with the Blossoms in second just three strokes behind at 669, and finally Southern Arkansas University placed third at 685.

Arkansas-Monticello will return to action next week as UAM will compete in the Great American Conference Championships beginning on Sunday, April 23 and running through Tuesday, April 25 in Hot Springs, Arkansas and will be played at the Hot Springs Country Club.
