Republican state Treasurer Ron Estes will represent the Kansas 4th congressional district replacing Mike Pompeo, who President Donald Trump named as CIA director.
The special election was held Tuesday, April 11. Sedgwick County, Kansas, (which includes Wichita) was the only county carried by Democrat James Thompson. Thompson led by 414 over Republican Ron Estes, who carried the other 16 counties to win the seat. Overall, Estes had 53 percent to 45 percent for Thompson.
