BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene downed Rogers State 5-4 in extra-innings with a walk-off double from Kriston Shumaker in the opener. Rogers State took the second game, using the help of three home runs to beat the Storm 18-11 Wednesday afternoon.

The Crimson Storm grabbed an early lead in the first as a Mahina Sauer double drove home the first run of the game for SNU, scoring Sam Smith. Southern Nazarene struck again in the third. Sauer got a two-out single to center and later scored after Hannah LeBeau hit a two-run homerun to give SNU a 3-0 lead.

The Hillcats came back with three runs in the fifth to knot the score up at 3-3. The Crimson Storm scored one more run in the sixth after Jacey James hit a double down the left field line to score Katelyn Brown. Rogers State scored a run in the seventh to tie the game up at 4-4.

In the top of the eighth RSU led the inning off with a double, then moved the runner over to third on a sacrifice bunt. With one out, the Hillcats attempted a suicide squeeze as they laid a bunt down in between the pitcher and third base. Katelyn Brown fielded the bunt cleanly, delivered a perfect throw to LeBeau, who then applied a run saving tag on the sliding Hillcat for the second out of the inning. Brown struck out the next batter to allow the Storm to go to the bottom of the eighth with the score remaining 4-4.

After failing to score in the eighth, SNU held Rogers State scoreless in the ninth. Kendal Stockstill delivered a one-out single and was moved into scoring position after Smith singled to right. With runners on first and second, Shumaker doubled to center to score the game-winning run.

Katelyn Brown (4-5) got the win after giving up four runs on eight hits in nine innings of work. Brown also struck out a career-high 14 batters.

Sauer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. LeBeau went 1-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Rogers State got on the board first, scoring six runs in the first. Southern Nazarene answered back in the first, scoring five runs of their own. Stockstill hit a bases loaded single to score Smith, then Kai Sanchez emptied the bases, hitting your first career grand slam to put the score at 6-5 going into the second.

The Hillcats extended their lead in the next two innings, scoring one run in the second and three more in the third to make it a 10-5 ballgame going into the bottom of the third. SNU got two runs back in the third after a throwing error allowed LeBeau to score and an Amy Reynolds groundout to third allowed Brown to score.

RSU weathered the Storm's attempt to rally by adding four more runs in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to put the score at 17-7. Southern Nazarene showed a sign of life in the fifth as they put runners on second and third with one out. A wild pitch scored Cheyenne Reynolds, then an Amy Reynolds ground out to third scored Stockstill.
