NOTABLES
Isaac Hale and Nate Rutherford combined to throw three innings of scoreless relief – the only baserunner to reach during that stretch came on a walk.
Tech did its work in the opening inning with two outs on the board. After back-to-back fly outs to start the inning, Tech used three straight singles, capped by a two-run single by Love to get on the board.
Lyon knotted the game in the second, and the Wonder Boys were able to keep Lyon from tacking on additional runs as Birkemeier pitched out of the two-on, one-out jam.
After the Scots took advantage of a Tech error in the third to pull ahead, the Wonder Boys returned the favor, taking advantage of a Lyon miscue to knot the game at 3-3.
After putting the first two runners on base in the fifth inning, the Wonder Boys pulled ahead on a Love sacrifice fly.
Another Tech error proved costly in the fifth, as the Scots plated a pair of runs on a throwing error to pull ahead 5-4.
The Wonder Boys threatened again in the sixth and eighth, putting a runner on third with two outs in both innings, but Tech was unable to plate the tying run.
