Henderson State's Chris Hunt was named the Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week for his effort against Arkansas-Fort Smith last Friday.
The right-hander pitched six complete innings striking out a career-high nine batters in helping lead the Reddies to a 4-0 win over the Lions.
The senior from Greenwood, Ark. surrendered just two hits and did not allow a walk. Only one Lion reached second base with Hunt facing just two batters above the minimum.
Hunt, who has recorded seven straight wins dating back to last year, ranks ninth all-time in career wins at Henderson with 15.
Henderson State, 3-0 on the season, will play its home opener on Thursday when the Reddies play host to Nebraska-Kearney with the first pitch slated for 6 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field.
The game will kick-off the HSU Invitational with games scheduled throughout the weekend.
The Reddies will face Northwest Missouri at 3 p.m. Friday, Central Missouri on Saturday at 6 p.m., and Truman State on Sunday at Noon.
