The Alva High School library was filled with classmates of senior Ethan Harzman Wednesday afternoon to cheer him on in signing a letter of intent to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University and play football for the Rangers. Harzman was a very effective multi-position player for the Goldbugs during his high school career.
Coach Taylor Schwerdtfeger said, "This is really exciting for Ethan. It's also exciting for Alva to have kids go on and continue their football career and attend college. It's good for the other kids to see how hard work will pay off. We couldn't be represented by a better young man than Ethan Harzman. We're so proud of him that he is going to go on an get a degree, and we love him. This is a very tight knit community and we're all going to be pulling for him."
Harzman said, "This means a whole lot. Its something I've been working for my whole life. I finally achieved it. Going to college for football!"
Ranger Head Football Coach Matt Walter said, "I have been watching Ethan play since I returned here in 2015, essentially I have been recruiting him just as long. Ethan is a versatile athlete that could play either LB or DE. We plan on playing at MLB. He has a great motor and plays the game with great intensity and possesses great leadership ability. We are excited to have him and his family join the Ranger Football family."
Pictures were taken with all of the football seniors, the football coaches, and the extended Harzman family during the event. Cake and ice cream were served.
