On Wednesday, Sept. 14, two out of the three Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) officers went to a leadership conference in Stillwater for chapter officer training with their sponsor Janelle Hammer. Kathryn Baugh, president, and Karsyn Madrid, secretary, went to this meeting and participated in workshops, and learned about the different building blocks of leadership.
The workshops focused on officer training and how to connect, empower and serve the chapter. There were various workshops to choose from. The Alva FCCLA leadership chose to attend “The Ultimate Leadership Sundae,” a workshop on officer responsibilities, and “Rats St. Neve,” a workshop on STAR Events.
“It was great to learn the new things happening this year and meet other people from different chapters. I can say it was a great experience,” said Baugh.
