Muleriders register top-15 finish in competitive non-Division I Arkansas Chile Pepper 8K

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Oct. 2, 2016) – The Southern Arkansas Mulerider Cross Country team returned to action after last week's hiatus and recorded a 14th-place finish overall in the Non-Division I field at the always competitive Chile Pepper run hosted by the University of Arkansas on Saturday morning.

INDIVIDUAL FINISHES

Senior Doug Palmer led SAU for the fourth-consecutive meet and did so with a 52nd-place finish overall at 25:39.83, while being the sixth Great American Conference runner to cross the finish line.

Senior Jose Guevara (25:52.92) was the second Mulerider to cross the line and did so in 63rdplace.

Sophomore Lane Alexander finished in 75th place with a time of 26:03.27., while classmateBradyn Gower finished in 117th place at 26:42.50.

A pair of underclassmen in freshman Austin Morgan and sophomore Nathan Poovey logged improved performances from the Southern Stampede as Morgan logged a sub-28:00 time of 27:22.84 with Poovey finishing in 28:00.77.

Junior Cody Fox (28:23.24) rounded out the point-scoring placements for Southern Arkansas.

OF NOTE

Three Muleriders finished in the top-100 of 396 total Non-Division I runners.

Colorado School of Mines won the Non-Division I event as all seven point-scoring runners finished in the top-21, while East Central, while Missouri Southern State's Vincent Kiprop placed first overall with a time of 23:03.88; which was 30 seconds faster than the top Division I finisher on Saturday.
