FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Oct. 1, 2016) – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns cross country team came away with a 24th place finish out of 40 non-NCAA Division I teams running at the 28th Annual Chile Pepper Festival being held in Fayetteville, Ark. on Saturday.
The race turned in a record turnout with 58 women's teams and 493 runners combined between all collegiate levels.
Freshman Amy Riera led the Suns, setting a personal-best 5k time with a 19:40 and placing 100th out of the 253 runners in the Division II collegiate race.
Shannon McLaughlin was Tech's second-best finisher, crossing the stripe in 19:59.8 and placed 122nd.

The Suns will run close to home next weekend as Tech will compete in the Ozarks Open being held on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Clarksville, Ark. The race is slated to start at 8 a.m.
