Council to vote on new water, sewer rates

For governmental utility users like schools and prison

A resolution establishing new water and sewer rates is on the agenda for the Alva City Council meeting Monday. The council meets at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall. The council agreed to new rates for a special category of utility users such as schools, the university and the prison.

In other action the council will vote on a budget amendment of #3,511 from an insurance claim for a vandalized cemetery mower. There will be discussion and action on accepting the donation of a pavilion from Arden and Nicki Chaffee and Debbie Wilson in the amount of $9,600 as recommended by the Alva Cemetery Board. The Friends of Play Foundation is seeking approval to replace a retaining wall at Hatfield Park.

Randy Rhodes has asked approval to withdraw retirement funds from the city pension plan in a lump sum. Mayor Kelly Parker seeks approval of his appointment of Steve Ward to the Alva Hospital Board for a five year term ending October 2021.

There will also be reports from the mayor, city manager, and earlier board and committee meetings.

The Alva Utility Authority and Alva Economic Development Authority will meet following council adjournment.
