Shawnee postal worker under investigation for hoarding mail

SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP, posted Sept. 14, 2016) — The U.S. Postal Service says a postal worker in Shawnee is under investigation for allegedly hoarding mail.

U.S. Postal Service Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jeff Krafels says investigators received a tip last month that the postal employee was hoarding people's mail in Shawnee. He tells the Shawnee News-Star (http://bit.ly/2cHD8oI) that agents recovered the missing mail on Sept. 2, and that the mail will be rerouted and delivered to customers.

Krafels says the person under investigation is now on "non-duty" status.

He declined to release further details about the investigation but said the postal service considers the allegations "to be a very serious matter."
