    The Alva FFA has been busy with many events including the national convention, which was held in Indianapolis, Indiana. On the trip up to convention, the officer team stopped at Lambert's Cafe and stopped halfway at St. Louis to see the arch and eat at Hard Rock Cafe.     The Alva Ladybugs hosted a labor auction Nov. 7. The team raised about $25,000 after expenses. There were about a 100 people who came to Champs and ate dinner, and supported the basketball girls by bidding on them and raising money for them. According to Head Coach Dustin Horn, the funds raised will pay for such things as "hotels, dinners when we travel, practice gear, travel gear, and team shoes."     Electric Gold (EG) has been making and selling pumpkin rolls for the community of Alva for countless years. "We make them as a fundraiser and because it's a tradition," EG member Mattie Duncan says. Pumpkin rolls are hand made by the members and parents of Electric Gold.     The City of Alva Tourism Tax Committee is facing a significant decrease in available funds. With the fading of the oil boom and a subsequent downturn in use of the local motels and hotels, the amount of tourism tax collected has been dropping. The tax is levied on room rentals when people stay in Alva.     Local law enforcement officials announced Tuesday, Nov. 15, that they had apprehended Justin Dean McClary of Alva. McClary had escaped on Nov. 6 when officers went to his home to arrest him on an outstanding warrant. Authorities said McClary was located at his residence at 1113 Barnes St. in Alva on Tuesday.     Plumes of smoke northwest of Alva Monday afternoon signaled the location of a rural fire. Alva Fire Chief Kirk Trekell said the fire was at a residence near the intersection of County Road 400 and Kiowa Road to the northwest of Mackey’s feedlot.
