    MEXICO CITY (AP) — A U.S. diver suffered a shark bite on the forearm after being attacked Monday in Magdalena Bay off the Baja California Sur coast. The Mexican navy did not release the man's name or hometown, though it said he is 23 years old. The navy said the man was diving in the Pacific near San Carlos, and he apparently made it back aboard the dive boat on his own.     ROCKPORT, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts college student has received a response to a message he threw into the ocean when he was 10 years old. Suffolk University sophomore Max Vredenburgh says he put the letter into a glass wine bottle that he threw into the water at Long Beach in Rockport in August 2010. Vredenburgh's father texted him Friday to say that he had received a letter from someone named "G. Dubois" who found the bottle on a beach in Southern France on Oct. 10.   • Pilot rescued by kayakers after small plane lands in lake

    COVINGTON, Wash. (AP) — The pilot of a small plane that went down in a lake near Covington was rescued by kayakers. KIRO-TV reports the plane crashed into Lake Morton shortly before noon Monday. The King County Sheriff's Office says witnesses saw a plane with no engine crash into the middle of the lake. The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was rescued by neighbors using kayaks, Mountain View Fire said.     DEMAREST, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey woman has sued a country club for $30,000 after a waiter spilled wine on her luxury handbag. The Alpine Country Club, in turn, is suing the waiter. Maryana Beyder says in a lawsuit filed Oct. 29 that she was dining at the country club in Demarest in September 2018 when a waiter spilled red wine on her rare Hermes handbag, ruining it.
