What is light? Scientists really don’t know what light is, but we all know its many effects, and we know that it is radiation waves of different frequencies. However, what it is exactly cannot be truly explained as other things can be explained in science. We know that there could be no life on the earth without light. What the sun is to the earth, Jesus Christ is to the spiritual world. What effect the sun has on nature is the effect Jesus has on our cold, lifeless and sinful natures. Jesus says, in John 8:12, “I am the light of the wor...
Do you know lazy people? Those people who do absolutely nothing to contribute to the betterment and building up of society? We as Christians can fall into the same rut if we don’t show our faith to God and the world by our actions! We can become lazy if we don’t focus on the work God has for us. In the book of James, the Lord’s brother, James warns us about the lazy condition of our faith. James 2:14-17 says, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother...

Are you scam savvy: aware of the mental habits and shortcuts that make us easy to fool? It is human nature to be trustworthy and when a prize is dangled before us, the urge to comply is even greater. Who wouldn’t want to get a rich return with no risk of loss? I recall the days of chain letters, which involved attempts to convince the participant to make a number of copies of the letter with an enclosed amount of money and pass them on to a certain number of recipients. It was a reverse p...
As a senior pastor in the City of Alva, I'm responding to the letter to the editor about the mural on "Church row." I drove by and looked at it and I think it's awesome. I didn't see any subliminal messages. See our job is to "Win the loss at ALL costs" and, as a Pastor full of the Holy Spirit, I believe in winning the loss at all costs and preaching the word of God. But since his can of worms was opened up, let's talk about the churches getting involved in a pagan holiday. Trying to justify it by calling it "trunk or treat." The word of God...
Sinister deeds are taking place since Saturday in Israel. The government of Palestine and its state sponsored terrorist division, Hamas, has been attacking, murdering, raping, pillaging and kidnapping Jews right and left. The Israeli government has responded and while it may be a drawn-out process, militarily Israel will prevail. However, what we must continue to do is support the Israeli people with prayer and I mean flood our Lord and Savior with prayer for his chosen people. I watch so little news these days, but I have been watching little...
When the Civil War ended in 1865, Republican members of Congress refused to allow former Confederate states to have seats in that body for several years. Meanwhile, over the veto of President Andrew Johnson, congressmen passed a law taking away the right to vote for those who had fought for or openly supported the Confederacy during the war. Next, they sent military troops to the South to register voters – including adult male ex-slaves. By 1867, therefore, several southern states had more Afric...
