  • Where are the great revivals?

Pastor John Clapp, Bible Baptist Church|Sep 27, 2024

King David's plea in Psalm 85:6, “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” echoes with urgency. The great warrior king was witnessing a nation drifting from the Lord, and his plea for revival was not a casual request, but a desperate cry for a spiritual renewal. Words written over 3,000 years ago are still relevant today. Our families, churches, country and world are in a rapid descent from God, and the need for spiritual renewal is more urgent than ever. Our wor...

  • The storms of life

Steve Hamm, College Hill Church of Christ|Sep 27, 2024

We cannot choose to be born into this world; it just happens. When we arrive, we get into the boat and begin our journey across the sea. Life begins to affect us in a variety of ways, ways that we might perceive in a hurtful way. Our siblings won’t share that toy that they received on their special third birthday. Our best friend in the third grade just became our worst enemy because they found someone else to take our place as besties. We just turned 16 and bought our first car, which we wrecked a week later. We find the love of our life a...

  • Pretzels

    Arden Chaffee|Sep 27, 2024

“Bring back those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, those days of soda and pretzels and beer.” – Nat King Cole, 1962. Summer is ending but a cold beer and pretzels sounds good in any season. What Say! My story about pretzels begins with mentioning “Auntie” Ann Beiler who started selling soft pretzels in 1988. Her franchise today has over 1,700 locations and we are fans, seeking one out in every mall we visit. What is there about pretzels that makes them so popular? Created by a medieval...

  • Babies behave better than us

    Andy and Renie Bowman|Sep 27, 2024

Two-month-old Lydia suddenly feels uncomfortable, so she begins twisting her little head back and forth, whimpering, and when that doesn’t bring her mom, she begins shifting her body around. According to her beliefs, that lady-in-waiting has only one function in life – to attend to Lydia’s every whim and need. Mom is supposed to be watching that tiny body 24/7 so as to catch the first indication that “Hey, ma’am, I am not happy, and you should have already fixed this situation 45 seconds a...

  • Connections

    Dal Houston|Sep 27, 2024

I would like to take credit for the following thought, but I cannot; I heard it on a short video, and it really struck a chord and I want to pass it on. To paraphrase the video, it basically stated that in a world where so many people feel disconnected, left alone and isolated, we so often miss many opportunities around us to connect with our fellow humans. It may be as simple as saying hello to someone on a busy sidewalk, asking someone how they are doing as you are standing in a check-out...

  • Mother Featherlegs, part 2

    Roger Hardaway|Sep 27, 2024

Mother Featherlegs was a prostitute who moved to Wyoming in 1876 and set up shop a few miles south of the town of Lusk. Her cabin was conveniently located on a well-travelled trail, which provided her with customers. Rumors around town were that she was from Louisiana and had been part of an outlaw gang there. An additional rumor was that her cabin was the gathering place for a new bunch of outlaws. As we saw last week, Wyoming in the 1870s was home to several thousand more men than women, and...

  • Goats are masters of escape and attack

    Doug Little|Sep 27, 2024

We have had goats on the farm on and off, mostly on, for close to 20 years. We’ve had Boer goats, which are meat goats, and we have dairy goats as well. Deb makes goat milk soap when she has time, and it is wonderful. It is great for your skin and goat’s milk isn’t too bad either. It isn’t anything like the sweet, creamy goodness that comes out of a Jersey cow, but it sure isn’t bad. I totally see how small farmers with limited acres decide that goats would be a good enterprise for themselves. We mostly use them for weed control. There isn...

  • I hope you enjoyed the car show

    Jim Scribner|Sep 27, 2024

Jack made it with his Falcon convertible and frog passengers, so I sat with him and had a good time visiting. It was a bummer that we got rained out, but for whatever reason God saw fit to give us our much-needed rain this weekend. The farmer group can now sow wheat. My friend Bettles (If you are from Great Bend, Kansas, no one ever knows your name, just your nickname) won a trophy. Nephew Joel was fourth in the burnout. As always, the car club did a spectacular job. High fives to all! If you...
