  • Brightening up the Alva library

    The basement area of the Alva Public Library is getting a new look. Recently the lights were changed out to LED lighting. This made the area brighter, but it also made it easier to see that wall colors had changed over time. The basement conference room has new paint on the walls. The old tan paint changed color from tan to salmon, according to Sandra Ott Hamilton, library director.     Dr. Roger Hardaway, professor of history at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, was recently interviewed for a news article that was broadcast on a state-run radio network in Europe.     A Fairview woman died of injuries received in a three-vehicle collision Friday. The wreck occurred at 12:40 p.m. Aug. 31 on U.S. Highway 412 at County Road 580. The location is a half mile south and two miles east of Cleo Springs in Major County. Karen Sue McKinney, 74, of Fairview was pronounced dead at the scene from head, trunk and internal injuries by the Major County EMS. She was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.
