    Monday night the Alva Utility Authority (AUA) approved a new five-year agreement with the Alva Hospital Authority (AHA) for management of the Homestead Retirement Community at 901 Homestead Dr. The current contract ends Aug. 31. The AUA members are made up of the city council members and presided over by the mayor. Since its beginning, the Homestead has been the responsibility of the AUA.     An Alva man has been ordered to undergo mental observation and evaluation following a competency hearing in Woods County District Court Wednesday. William E. (Bill) Dickey Jr., 65, of Alva was charged with stalking in violation of a court order, a felony, on July 12, 2016. He had been released on a $5,000 bond while awaiting resolution of the case.     A nursing home employee from Cherokee has been charged with abuse by a caretaker. According to court records, on March 30 Alva Police Officer Timothy Clapp was contacted by Dayna Jordan, head nurse at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva. She asked him to sit in on a meeting with an employee about an incident. At the nursing home, Clapp made contact with Jordan and the employee, Savanna Lynn Eshleman.     A woman from Waynoka has been charged with felony child neglect in Woods County. Leslie Nichole Golbek, 35, was charged Aug. 24 for allegedly omitting to protect her 11-year-old daughter from exposure to the use, possession or sale of illegal drugs.     Two young men from Waynoka are facing felony drug charges in Woods County. Jalen Issac Slater, 19, and Colton Douglas Reuss, 18, have been charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) while within 2,000 feet of a school.     A Waynoka man has been charged with using his ex-wife’s debit/credit card to obtain cash from her account at an ATM near the police department. Colby Vaughn Ross, 35, of Waynoka was charged with unauthorized use of a credit card, a misdemeanor. This crime is punishable by a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment for up to 30 days, or both.     OKLAHOMA CITY – With Medicare open enrollment less than two months away, the Oklahoma Insurance Department is asking seniors to be on alert.     An 18-year-old from Cherokee is in serious condition following a single-vehicle wreck early Friday morning. Raylyn Nicole Waugh was taken by Alfalfa County EMS to Share Medical Center in Alva and then transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by Air-Evac.
