    Seventeen members of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of President Linda Roten on Aug. 10, with two members absent. Ida Evans represented the chapter at the state convention and presented her report and showed many tokens that she received at the convention. She was reimbursed $50 for her expenses.     Descendants of William and Florentina Pshigoda held the 56th Annual Pshigoda Cousins Reunion, August 4–6 at Waka (Texas) Community Center, southwest of Perryton, Texas. On Friday evening, bierox and ham sandwiches were served to 30 in attendance. Saturday, the group had 56 attending. A potluck dinner was enjoyed by all with a lot of homemade foods.     An increase in monthly rates for Alva utility services will be on the agenda for Monday’s city council meeting. The Alva City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the municipal building. During a public hearing Wednesday, Aug. 9, residents were invited to express their opinions and questions about the utility rate increases being proposed.     Alva police report a couple of vehicle accidents from early August. On Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 4 p.m. Nancy Sue Case, 75, of Alva was driving a 2014 Ford Edge westbound in the 700 block of Maple Street. She said she thought another car was approaching and moved to the right to give it room. Case’s vehicle struck a legally parked 2005 Cadillac owned by Marietta Dyche of Fairview.     An Aline man is accused of using a company credit card to obtain merchandise after being fired from the company. According to court records, on June 13 Alva Police Officer Jade Cooper met with Randel McWaters at the police department for a report of credit card use by a former employee. McWaters said Shannon Corbitt was fired from the company JRW Inc. LL on Friday, June 10.     An Alva man accused of breaking windows at a rental house has been charged with a misdemeanor in Woods County. Dustin Arthur Goodrich, 48, of Alva is charged with malicious injury to property – under $1,000. This misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment in the county jail for up to one year, or both.     A Wichita man is charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Woods County. Dewayne Glen McGeoch, 30, is charged with a misdemeanor of leaving the scene of an accident with damaged fixture. According to court documents, McGeoch is charged with driving a 2010 Dodge Charger and colliding with a bridge then abandoning his vehicle, blocking the roadway, until it was removed by law enforcement.
