We call these people our best friends, and these relationships usually last a very long time, possibly till death finally parts us. In Proverbs 18:24 it says, “One who has unreliable friends s...

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma lawmakers on Thursday approved a bill prohibiting all abortions with few exceptions, and providers said they would stop performing the procedure as soon as the governor signs it in the latest example of the GOP's national push to restrict access to what has been a constitutional right for nearly a half century. Oklahoma lawmakers this year already passed a half-dozen anti-abortion measures, and while abortion providers across the country have been bracing for the possibility that the U.S. Supreme Court's new conser...
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Legislature on Thursday approved a bill requiring public and public charter school students to use only the bathroom of the sex listed on their birth certificate. About a dozen conservative states have passed laws aimed at the transgender population, including bathroom use, athletes and banning gender confirming treatments or surgery for transgender youth. The Oklahoma bill passed the state Senate on a 38-7 vote, then cleared the House by a 69-14 margin. "It's about safety, it's about protection, it's about c...

The beer's name is a play on the Finnish expression "Otan olutta," which means "I'll have a beer," and the French abbreviation for NATO, which is "OTAN." The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has two official languages, English and French. C...
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Relatives of the 10 Black people massacred in a Buffalo supermarket pleaded with the nation Thursday to confront and stop racist violence, their agony pouring out in the tears of a 12-year-old child, hours after the white man accused in the killings silently faced a murder indictment in court. Jaques "Jake" Patterson, who lost his father, covered his face with his hands as his mother spoke at a news conference. Once she finished, Jake collapsed into the arms of Rev. Al Sharpton, the veteran civil rights activist, and c...

Participants in a program known as WIC get vouchers that are redeemed for specific foods to supplement their diets. The vouchers usually can only be used to purchase one brand of infant formula, which e...

The hope is that an extra shot will shore up protection for kids ages 5 to 11 as infections once again are on the rise. "Vaccination with a primary series among this age group has lagged behind other age g...
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — With Oklahoma only days away from enacting the toughest state ban on abortion in the U.S., providers were preparing to stop terminating pregnancies as questions remained Friday about enforcing the law's limited exceptions. The law allows abortions to save a pregnant patient's life "in a medical emergency" and supporters said doctors still would decide what an emergency is, though that could change later if it becomes perceived as a loophole. There's also an exception for cases of rape, sexual assault or incest that have b...
The Kansas Supreme Court on Friday disbarred former prosecutor Jacqie Spradling for her conduct during a double-murder trial in Topeka in 2012. The court said while Spradling was a prosecutor in Shawnee County, she engaged in "repeated patterns of misconduct" during the trial of Dana Chandler, who was convicted of killing her husband and his fiance. Chandler's convictions were later overturned because of prosecutorial misconduct. She is scheduled for a new trial later this year. The Supreme Court said Spradling ignored a court order, made...
