A Rube-Goldberg machine is an intentionally complicated machine built to perform a simple task. This year the simple task that the machines were required to complete was popping a balloon. • Who is your Lord?

Pastor Nathan Hosier, Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church|Apr 26, 2019

We have just finished celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. We had services all week leading up to Easter. It was a great time for the community of churches to get together and worship. It was exciting for Cedar Grove and I to be a part of this. This is also a good time to remember who is lord of your life. Philippians 2:9-11 reminds us, “For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth – and e...

  • Spiritually Speaking

    W. Jay Tyree, College Hill Church of Christ|Apr 26, 2019

About a year ago, the Lord blessed Becky with a motor home. When I say, “The Lord blessed Becky,” I don’t mean to imply that I don’t enjoy the gift as well, but this is something my wife has wanted for years and had almost given up hope of ever acquiring. She named her 1993 Winnebago “Iris” because of the beautiful etchings of irises on the cabinet doors, but I often refer to our little house on wheels as “the bus.” Last week, we had big plans to go to Kaw Lake for a couple of days of rest, relaxation, and (for me) a bit of fishing at Coon...

  • Healthcare for all

    Arden Chaffee|Apr 26, 2019

Nicki and I spend nearly $14,000 on premiums, deductibles, co-payments, and travel for treatment in an average year. Should universal health care become the law of the land, the private insurance business would take a $600 billion hit. As you might imagine, health insurers are a little worried. In the past, universal healthcare or socialized medicine has been taboo with the fear of panels making decisions of life or death, long waits to see physicians, no choice of treatment, and a shortage of...

  • Random Thoughts

    Roger Hardaway|Apr 26, 2019

I like to think of myself as being a good grocery shopper. I enjoy searching for bargains and saving money without sacrificing the quality of the food my family and I eat. The week I turned 16 years old I got a job in a grocery store, where I worked for over a year. On Friday afternoons after school and all day on Saturdays I sacked groceries. On Tuesday afternoons I got to fill in for the “produce man” who had the day off. That brief job that I had years ago hardly makes me an expert on groceri...
