    A report by a concerned citizen and a traffic stop led to the arrest of an Alva woman. She is now facing charges in Woods County. Court records show on June 16 about 6 p.m., Woods County Undersheriff Keith Dale received a report from a concerned citizen who said his son was following a vehicle in the area west of Dacoma. The reporting person had been told empty beer cans were being thrown from the vehicle as it traveled east on a county road.     A rezoning request failed for lack of a motion in the Alva Planning Commission meeting Monday, June 28. Attending were Chairman Christie Kornele and members Charles Murrow, Tyler Crawford and Mark Nichols. Mary Hamilton resigned from the Alva City Council on June 21, and there was some confusion about whether or not that meant she was no longer on the planning commission.     Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s budget has been approved by the Regional University System of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for fiscal year 2022. Northwestern will operate with a total budget comprised of $32,001,968, compared to last year’s budget of $26,072,311. The budget consists of $26,445,900 in E&G funding and $5,536,068 from CARES funds. The FY22 budget shows an increase of $557,926 in state appropriations.     The Alva Renegades won the championship of the NW OK Kids League Tournament in Woodward June 24-29. The Renegades beat Vici 8-0 and bested the Woodward Rangers 7-0. In the finals, the Alva Renegades and Woodward Rangers faced off again, with the Renegades winning 10-1 to capture the championship. The Renegades now have a record of 33 wins and two losses.
