Genevieve Farris hosted the February meeting of the Tulip Garden Club in her home on Feb. 9. Construction of a turf runway and rental rates for the new T-hangar are set for discussion and action at the Alva Regional Airport Commission meeting Monday. The commission meets at 7 p.m. at the airport. In addition, the board members will discussion and possibly take action on a landlord’s consent and subordination agreement between Terry Cline, BancCentral and the airport. Feb. 20–24 was National FFA Week. On Monday Alva FFA had a chapter meeting to celebrate the winners of the Ag in the Classroom video contest. Tuesday the officers talked on KOFM radio in Enid. Wednesday the chapter had an appreciation breakfast for the teachers. Thursday they took appreciation cards and trinkets to Beadles Nursing Home. Alva Police received a couple of theft reports from residents recently. On Monday, March 6, Wayne Wiersig who lives in the 1100 block of Center Street contacted police. He noticed that a pump sprayer was missing from the back of his pickup. He told Officer Timothy Clapp the last time he saw it was the evening of March 3, and he noticed it was missing the next morning. A reported domestic altercation in Waynoka landed a man with a felony charge in Woods County. According to court documents, on March 2 about 7:10 p.m. Waynoka Police Officer Misty Smiley received a report of a woman at the police department needing to talk to an officer. When she arrived, Shy-Ann Swanson met her in the parking lot. Watchful waiting pretty much describes the activity on the wildfire front in northwest Oklahoma Saturday. The Oklahoma Forestry Service reports not a lot changed on the fires since Friday. A minor collision occurred on Tuesday, March 7, in Alva when a vehicle backing from a parking space struck another parked vehicle. In incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. at 504 Seventh St. in front of the Alva Public Library. Jack Louthan, 18, of Alva was backing a 2007 red Toyota from a parking space when he struck an adjacent 2003 Buick. Louthan drove around and parked on the north side of the library. A relief fund has been established by the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation (OCF) to help Beaver, Ellis, Harper and Woodward county cattlemen who have been affected by recent wildfires in the area. A Waynoka woman said her ex-boyfriend didn’t know she had a burglar alarm installed. According to court documents, she told police he attempted to break into the house because she refused to talk to him, setting off the alarm. Brandon Doyle Ross, 31, of Waynoka has been charged with burglary in the first degree, a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for seven to 20 years. Charles Phillip Zeilman, 48, of Alva was charged Feb. 24 with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a felony.
