Hagood threw a shutout to lift the Lady Eagles to a 3-0 win in the first game at Mustangs Park, but OC fell 3-2 in the second game despite an outstanding performance by Nordyke in which she flirted with a perfect game. • Brown's stellar pitching leads OC to split against Northwestern

    Feb 23, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 21, 2017) – What was perhaps Kolton Brown's strongest pitching outing of his Oklahoma Christian baseball career gave the Eagles a doubleheader split against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Brown allowed only three hits and no earned runs in six innings as OC took the first game 5-1 at Dobson Field, although the Rangers rebounded to win the second game 6-3. Brown, a senior right-hander from Yukon, baffled Northwestern (4-8) throughout the first game and would have had a shutout except for an unearned run in the f...

  • No. 3 Kansas routs TCU 87-68 to clinch share of Big 12 title

    Dave Skretta, AP Sports Writer|Feb 23, 2017

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — One by one, the glittering Big 12 championship trophies were paraded into Allen Fieldhouse, set upon a series of tables that these days stretch nearly the full length of the court. Bill Self proceeded to nestle No. 13 right in front. "It's 13 in a row, but tonight shouldn't be about 13," he said after the third-ranked Jayhawks pulled away in the second half to beat TCU 87-68 on Wednesday night, clinching at least a share of yet another Big 12 title. "This should be about these guys first." The streak dating to Self's s...

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A man from Syria who says he was tortured in his home country after converting to Christianity has no legal recourse against an Oklahoma church that published his name and baptism online, the state's highest court ruled on Wednesday. The former Muslim, identified in the lawsuit only as "John Doe," says that after his baptism in 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Tulsa he returned to Syria and was kidnapped, tortured and nearly beheaded by radical Muslims who learned of his baptism online. He claims he e...

    Michael Biesecker and Jason Dearen|Feb 23, 2017

WASHINGTON (AP) — While serving as Oklahoma's attorney general, new Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt coordinated closely with fossil-fuel companies and special interest groups working to undermine federal efforts to curb planet-warming carbon emissions, newly released emails show. More than 7,500 pages were released under court order Tuesday evening after an Oklahoma judge ruled that Pruitt had been illegally withholding his correspondence, which is public record under state law, for the last two years. • Oklahoma Senate panel OKs repeal of income tax cut trigger

    Feb 23, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma Senate committee has approved legislation to repeal the trigger for a cut in the state's individual income tax rate. The Senate Appropriations Committee on Wednesday voted 32-4 for the bill and sent it to the full Senate for a vote. Legislation passed in 2014 provided a mechanism to reduce Oklahoma's top tax rate from 5 percent to 4.85 percent when tax collections increase by about $100 million annually, enough to cover the cost of the tax cut. Since then, state revenues have plummeted and the state faces a b...
