Friday on behalf of the 5K run, Melissa Rector presented checks totaling $2,140 to three organizations.     Alfalfa County received a report of a hysterical, hallucinating and combative female in Carmen at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31. County law enforcement and emergency medical people responded.     During the day of Wednesday, Jan. 31, Barber County Sheriff’s Department officers and the U.S. Marshall’s office executed an arrest warrant in Kiowa, Kansas. A tip from a local citizen by phone call prompted law enforcement to come to Kiowa to a residence that was temporarily housing the man who was arrested.     The Alva School District is in good shape, according to Superintendent Steve Parkhurst. The fiscal year (FY) 2018 general fund is $10,417,593.89, up $765,158.74 from FY 2017. Warrant comparison shows the district has spent $295,378.73 more this year than last. Even gross production tax is up about $10,000 from the year previous.
