Nineteen Woods County 4-H members, comprising two Alva 4-H teams and four Waynoka 4-H teams, competed in the NW District Livestock Judging Contest on Feb. 1 in Enid. These teams competed in the junior age group of the 4-H Division, which had a total of 28 teams and over 100 individuals participating in the contest. Alva City Council members thought everything was set for the municipal election in April. They’d approved the election resolution and the notice had been published with four council seats (Seat 1 in each ward) and the city treasurer position open for filing next week. However, the city was notified by the election board that two other council seats need to be on the list. Those two council members were appointed to fill vacancies. A car and truck collided on U.S. Highway 281 South about 12:45 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4, in front of Champ's Restaurant and Jiffy Trip. Three arrests on drug and alcohol charges resulted from a traffic stop in Alva on Wednesday, Jan. 25. According to court records, about 10:08 p.m. Trooper Brock Morgan stopped a vehicle that had been traveling 43 mph in a 35 mph zone on Oklahoma Boulevard. Complaints of a loud party at an Alva apartment led officers to evidence that caused them to arrest two residents. According to court documents, on Jan. 20 about 9:30 p.m. Woods County Deputy Sheriff Adam Honeyman and Alva Police Officer Brian File went to the Aspen Apartments on Hart Street. Both cars were heavily damaged in a two-vehicle collision on Oklahoma Boulevard in Alva on Saturday, Jan. 14. The wreck occurred about 5 p.m. at the intersection with Logan Street. An Alva woman was injured when her vehicle struck a deer in Woodward County Friday. Patricia Jessup, 53, of Alva was taken by Freedom EMS to Alliance Health in Woodward where she was admitted in stable condition with neck and trunk internal injuries. According to police, a driver failed to stop at a red light, which led to a collision at Fourth Street and Oklahoma Boulevard in Alva on Friday, Jan. 20, about noon.
