Be strong, all you people of the land’ – this is the Lord’s declaration. ‘Work! For I am with you’ – the declaration of the Lord of Hosts. ‘This is the promise I made to you when you came...

Last week we looked at the promises God gave to Abraham. He repeated those promises to his son Isaac, and his son Jacob. The first century Jews were very aware of their heritage and their lineage. They knew they were God’s chosen people from the time of Moses. It was a cultural heritage even more than a religious one. They were not as obedient as God’s chosen people should have been, but they never forgot their roots. When Moses approached the burning bush God referred to Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Moses knew who He was...

Henry Ford said, “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” Those words are as true today as they were when spoken over 75 years ago. As children grow up, parents should set examples and reputation is one of them. Reputation is defined as the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something. Reputation can be built around the four agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. The first is “Be impeccable with your word.” According to Ruiz, it is the most important. It mean...
Many of us, regardless of our age, like to think that we can still do the things we used to do when we were younger. That idea was certainly on the minds of three former football players who decided that – because they had graduated or dropped out of college before using up all of their athletic eligibility – they would return to school and complete their studies while also playing football. The only problem the three men faced, however, was that by the time the urge to return to the ath...
