    John Hanna|Jan 2, 2019

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A judge ruled Monday that Kansas cannot stop telemedicine abortions, thwarting the latest attempt by state lawmakers to prevent doctors from providing pregnancy-ending pills to women they see by remote video conferences. District Judge Franklin Theis ruled that a law barring telemedicine abortions and set to take effect in January has no legal force. During an earlier hearing, Theis derided the law as an "air ball" because of how lawmakers wrote it. That law was challenged in a lawsuit filed by the Center for Reproductive Ri...

    Alex Veiga|Jan 2, 2019

Barr was attorney general under President George H.W. Bush when he was asked in a Feb. 24, 1992, interview whether he supported a proposal from Republican presidential challenger Pat Buchanan to erect a barrier of ditches and fences along the border to stop illegal immigration. "I don't think it's necessary. I think t...

    Deb Reichmann|Jan 2, 2019

WASHINGTON (AP) — Amid questions about the pace of his exit from Syria, President Donald Trump complained Monday that he's getting "bad press" for his decision to pull American troops out of the country and insisted he was simply making good on his campaign promise against U.S. involvement in "never ending wars." Trump abruptly announced in mid-December that he was withdrawing 2,000 U.S. troops from Syria. The decision was roundly criticized by his national security advisers and Democratic and Republican lawmakers, several of whom asked him t...

TAIZ, Yemen (AP) — Day after day Nabil al-Hakimi, a humanitarian official in Taiz, one of Yemen's largest cities, went to work feeling he had a "mountain" on his shoulders. Billions of dollars in food and other foreign aid was coming into his war-ravaged homeland, but millions of Yemenis were still living a step away from famine. Reports of organizational disarray and out-and-out thievery streamed in to him this spring and summer from around Taiz — 5,000 sacks of rice doled out without record of where they'd gone . . . 705 food baskets loo...

  • AP FACT CHECK: Trump's political spin on migrant deaths

    Calvin Woodward|Jan 2, 2019

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump twisted circumstances behind the deaths of two migrant Guatemalan children to insulate his administration from any blame, contending without justification that they were in dire health before they reached the border. The children cleared initial U.S. health screenings and one of them was in the U.S. for five days before suddenly showing signs of illness. His weekend tweets on the deaths in U.S. custody of a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year old boy were his first public words on the subject and conveyed n...

The Bison then tied the game with 17 seconds left thanks to a put-back by Dishon Lowery off an Antonio Wade miss. Unfortunately, RSU's Brewster Peacock hit a six-foot jumper off the glass inside the final second, denying OBU a chance to respond. Brantly T...
