Our school lost a tremendous leader on March 1. Mr. Elliott served as superintendent for Burlington Public School for 27 years. Basketball playoffs started Feb. 9 with Burlington hosting the district games. The Burlington Elks played on Friday the 9th against Shidler. The Elks came out on top with a final score of 73-47.They advanced to the championship game on Saturday the 10th along with the Burlington Lady Elks. Burlington Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) hosted a blood drive at the Burlington School on Sept. 14. The Oklahoma Blood Institute was there to collect the blood donations. FCA members volunteered their time by signing people in and serving snacks. Over 30 people signed up to donate including teachers, students and community members. Jaden Allen was crowned this year's Miss Burlington on Aug. 24. Allen was the only contestant this year. She shared her talent and evening gown for the school and community at Burlington High School. This year at the regional track meet, Burlington had four students place and three advance to state. Kutter Jewell qualified in the 110 meter hurdles, Emily Burnet in the shot-put, and Anna Motycka in the 200 meter dash. Stephanie Croft also placed in the 100 meter hurdles. This year the junior class worked really hard to raise money for prom. They did fundraisers, worked concession stands and went to different towns asking for donations. Going into playoffs, which started the second week of February, the Burlington Elks and Lady Elks were both District Champions. Both teams went on to Medford to play in the regional tournament.
