Burlington FFA recently celebrated National FFA Week, Feb. 12-18, with many fun festivities. The celebration began with a Sunday morning service at Driftwood Christian Church. Monday was the FFA chapter's annual project auction fundraiser, where each student sold a project and volunteered service hours. This year Burlington High School made some changes in its cheer program. With a smaller number of high school and junior high cheerleaders, they decided to combine both teams. Brook Keast is the new cheer sponsor this year and has added many new cheers to help accelerate the school spirit during games and pep rallies. This year eight Burlington students had the opportunity to attend the 95th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. They left at 5 a.m. to take on the 13-hour trip. At convention, students attended sessions where they watched keynote speakers, award presentations and chorus performances. Burlington Schools welcomed a new teacher and coach to Burlington this year. Margo Hamilton teaches elementary keyboarding, seventh grade geography and physical education classes. She graduated from Canute High School and Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) with a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in psychology.
